West Texas Teardrops

Here are a few from a rest stop in West Texas. The nearest town was Iraan. I feel like you haven't seen the middle of nowhere until you've driven across Texas. I'm sure there are more lonely, isolated places on this earth, but I haven't been there yet.

New Posts Coming

As soon as my Newegg order shows up and I have a microSD card for my phone again and I can therefore offload my Langerado snaps, I will post a Langerado wrap-up. In the meantime, I will be away in Washington at the SEAALL conference hanging with a lot of librarians. I will probably bring the camera, and I may get some shots while I'm there. I still have scans from the October trip to post. April will have to be a clearinghouse, as I want everything done before we go to Budapest in May. Because I'll have a whole lot more to post then.

If you feel the need to talk during a show, please go stand near the bar or go the fuck outside. Thank you. That is all.

If it's not one thing...

It's been a rough few weeks. Liz's grandmother has been in bad shape since a week or so before Christmas. Liz has been in Virginia since a week after Thanksgiving, first helping out after her mother's stroke, and more recently assisting her grandmother. I've been home trying to get our apartment into decent shape, broken by occasional travel. Liz's grandmother passed away on Monday, and the funeral was today. Now, she has somewhere between 6 days and two weeks to get her apartment cleared out. I will not be able to help much as I have to be back in Florida on Tuesday.

Tonight's dinner: Beef tenderloin with shallot sauce

I cooked twice today, which is unusual. I eat cereal or oatmeal for breakfast. During the week, I usually eat out or take a sandwich to work for lunch, and then I cook dinner. On the weekends, I generally reheat leftovers for lunch. Today, though, I made a nice soup for lunch (documented in a previous post), then went out to do some food shopping and pick up a pizza on the way home. While at the food store, I found a couple of lovely beef tenderloins in the hippie food section, and decided that would be dinner.

Chicken and Sausage Soup

I returned a couple of days ago from a particularly tiring and trying holiday week. There was not much in the way of food left that I didn't have to throw away. I did manage to toss a few things in the freezer before I left, and it was from this small amount of food, along with the usual staples from which I decided to create today's lunch. (Note: Photos are all cell phone pics, so they're a little blurry and the color's a little weird in some of them).

Happy New Year

Well, it's another year. And in the new year will be more posts. No, I haven't forgotten about the rest of those California trip pictures. Things have just been a little crazy since mid-November, what with all the family medical emergencies. So, hopefully things will settle down now, what with the holidays over and all. I should have the next roll from the trip up this week (it's already scanned).

On the road in Florida

This restaurant was across the street from our motel in Gainesville. I liked the look of it, so I took a picture even though the sky was gray.

Back to the start

Now that I've been back for a couple of weeks, I've gotten most of the film from the California trip developed. I've scanned the first few rolls, and as I scan more, I'll post some of my favorite shots. All are resized and some are tweaked as well. And they're all scanned with not the greatest scanner.
